Summer of Socks

Ok, I did this crazy thing and signed up for Summer of Socks on Ravelry. Basically, from June 21st to September 1st, you knit as many pairs of socks as you can. Every two week period there's a raffle for those that have completed a pair in that particular period. You can have multiple entries. There's also "most socks" and a "socks on vacation" contests. This is hard core. Seriously. :P Oh, and did I mention, some people finished a pair in one day!!! Sheesh! Here's my not so sad attempt at my first pair for the contest (my second pair ever).

PS The sock bag (Piddly) is from Piddleloop, an awesome etsy shop!

WWKIPD

Saturday June 14th was no ordinary day. Perhaps to you muggles it was Flag Day, or maybe just a hot Saturday in June, but to us it was more...World Wide Knit in Public Day!

One Shawl to Rule Them All

My mom's birthday is coming up in June, and I've been wanting to make her something for a while. So I finally decided I would make this Woodland shawl for her out of Dream in Color Smooshy in the color Dusky Aurora. After a bad beginning, I think I've got the hang of it. The stitch markers and pattern keepers help for sure...like bumpers in bowling. I just finished the first repeat, so not too far along, but still, I wanted to show and tell.

Knits in action

Here's Sofia wearing her oh-so-soft cashmere blend sweater. I hadn't tried it on her until today and I'm glad I did. It's pretty much a perfect fit! What do you think?

Now all we need is the baby! ; )

If you can't be with the one you love...

...love the one you're with.

I'm waiting on some needles to start my Cotton Chenille Baby Blanket, so in the meantime, I'm working on the Daphne Baby Cape from Knit 2 Together. It's about 10 inches long and 51 inches wide at this point. I still have 7 more inches to go, not including the hood. We'll see how far I get before I have to abandon it (I have to get that blanket done first).
Happy knitting everyone!

Prayer shawl progress

since everyone's been posting the progress of their knitting, I thought I would share as well. I have finished my first prayer shawl (except the fringe). I have the second one half done, I'm trying to get it finished by this Sunday so I can turn them in.
